Privacy Policy

When you use UKLocal we collect the following information:

• Account information: name, email, phone, password (stored as a bcrypt hash), gender (optional).
• Profile data: avatar, cover image, bio — only what you voluntarily provide.
• Listings: the content of rooms / jobs / sell / need / community posts you publish.
• Activity: saved listings, recent views, comments, follows, group memberships, contact requests.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, page view counts for analytics.
• Cookies: session cookies (required for login), analytics cookies, and advertising cookies (see Section 4).

• To provide the core service: login, post listings, chat, notifications.
• To improve the platform based on aggregated analytics.
• To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
• To comply with legal obligations (court orders, lawful police requests).
• To serve relevant advertising through Google AdSense and similar networks.

UKLocal uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember your city preference, and collect basic analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser, but login and session features will not work.

Third-party advertising partners (see Section 4) also use cookies, which you can opt out of separately.

UKLocal uses Google AdSense and may use other advertising networks. This means:

• Google and its partners (third-party vendors) use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google uses advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to enable personalized advertising.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting google.com/settings/ads.
• To opt out of cookies used by third-party advertising networks, visit aboutads.info.
• We may also integrate other ad networks in the future. These will use cookies in a similar manner; the opt-out mechanisms above apply.

UKLocal does not sell your personal information (such as your email or phone) to advertisers. Only anonymized usage data and cookie information may be shared with ad networks.

• Public listings (rooms, jobs, sell, need) are visible to anyone who visits the site. Your phone number is gated behind a contact-request approval that you manually accept.
• Public profile (name, avatar, cover, bio, active listings) is visible to all visitors.
• Private data (email, password hash, gender) is never shown publicly.
• Service providers: our hosting (Vultr / CloudPanel) and database store your data on their infrastructure.
• Advertising partners: cookies + anonymized usage data (see Section 4).
• Legal disclosures: we may share information if required by a valid court order or law-enforcement request.

• You can view and edit your data via your profile.
• You can request data deletion by emailing admin@uklocal.in.
• You can opt out of advertising cookies via the links in Section 4.
• You can block other users to stop them from contacting you on the platform.
• You can request that the contact-information sharing flow be revoked — phone numbers are never shared automatically.

We take reasonable security measures including bcrypt password hashing, HTTPS for all traffic, and restricted database access. However, no internet service is 100% secure. Please keep your password confidential and report any suspicious activity to us.

UKLocal is not intended for children under 13. If you have created an account without parental consent and you are under 13, please contact us and we will delete your account.

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on the homepage. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
